How Interior Design Fails You

How Interior Design Fails You

Perfect is a word that is so out of this world. It is a happy ever after fairy tale. A little or much, even what is superlative is defective. Moreover, there is no cure for the failure that creates imperfection, but there is surely something we can do about it.

Tell us about your flaw and we will tell you that it is okay, but on the other hand, it’s also not okay. It is okay because you are not alone, yet it is not good for you if you do nothing and let the imperfection takes the wheel.

What about Interior design? How many times does it fail you? What kind of flaw that irritates you?

After we asked around and experienced it by ourselves, here we mail to you failures that Interior design may do every now and then.

“As I step into this cafe, the noise hurts my ears.”

This tale was told mostly by the introverts, who couldn’t help but listen to the chatter while they really need to have a good quality time with their closest ones or just by their own. Have you ever felt the likewise? When you and your friends had to speak louder to share stories, and it was an automated turn-off button to your energy.

It actually can be helped with Interior design, and it surely can, but not with a pretty one without a brain. It can be helped with the right material of the furniture, wall, and flooring that is soundproof. As for flooring, ceramic is the worst idea, instead you can use a wood parquet or carpet. While the wall that can hush down the noise is the one that has rockwool and covered by gypsum or padded wall.

To conclude it, materials that aren’t solid can be the rescue, for hard materials like metal and cement can easily ricochet the noise. No matter how pretty someone is but if they are dumb, we can’t help to raise our eyebrows, and Interior design is the same.

“It’s not that instagrammable. Where is the photo spot?”

It was decades ago when people only came to an eating place for a good food. Now the new chapter is unveiled, and it’s not a secret anymore that an insta-worthy place is what they’re looking for. At least, there’s one instagrammable spot that also whispers out loud about the identity of your business. In short, you must be relevant and love changes.

IMG_4087

The folks have sounded what’s on their mind, and we definitely see that as failures too. We know it so well because in this half-decade journey, truth be told, we have also sailed and dodged some other failures, such as communication issue and imprecise measurement.

Before everything starts, we must have the client tell us their budget. According to those numbers, we do the design and the material selection. But, there’s a time when the budget of our client is bigger than what they have previously stated. It happened in the middle of the project and because of that we have to redo a few things, which eventually delayed the whole project. As you know, IOOR Studio values our time highly as much as we appreciate yours.

The failure of Interior design can irritate your eyes too, hence colour and lighting are important matters here. Vibrant colours indeed kindle up one place, but having them painted all over the room isn’t a good idea. You need to find another hue that complements and makes it more pleasing to the eyes.

On the other side, you have to take lighting seriously. Not every Interior design consultant understand how it really matters, i.e. CRI 90, it’s a catastrophe if you use that lighting for a coffee shop or restaurant. It’s a shame if the lighting ruins the Interior and materials that were well and thoughtfully designed and selected.

Nothing is perfect for sure and there is no ultimate cure for a failure, but again you can do something about it. You can hire IOOR Studio who is able to help you avoid the mistakes. Because we understand and master the art of it. We know that a good Interior design is the one that pleases every sense of a man—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

Integrated Interior Design

Integrated Interior Design

What visits your mind if the words Interior design pop before you? It may be walls, floors, decorations, that is aesthetic, instagrammable, and so forth. A good Interior design may be the one that is pleasing to our eyes—one that is mesmerizing and leave us a memorable memoir.

I bet it’s a nod to this rationale.

Nevertheless, may IOOR Studio propose you a prose that we hold dear?

“A good Interior design is one that is well-integrated.”

Kyouchii
Kyouchii, Makassar

What we want to emphasize here is every part of Interior design is integral. They need to be integrated, for every piece of it completes one another. Marketing communication isn’t the only matter that must be integrated, Interior design goes the same.

Here are the wrinkle of ours about Integrated Interior Design.

Interpret the identity into Interior design

A brand has an identity that is captured on its logo and a philosophy that is excerpted from the mind of its author. One and the other brand isn’t identical, they have their own brand story. Beside the wants and the needs of our client, we have to interpret their brand identity into the design we create.

Budget of the client

Our clients may have endless coins inside their pocket, but they must have their own budget. Therefore, we can’t just design an exceptional Interior, we also have to match their budget and be extra mindful to spend every cent of it.

To the details

We have mentioned earlier about brand identity. To create a whole Interior design, every part has to be integrated, therefore we have to imprint the identity into the details—lighting, decoration, furniture, walls, floors, ceilings, et cetera.

Build it right

Every contractor has their own finesse. If you want to build a commercial space, then you need to find the one who is experienced in building one. You need to find the right contractor that is able to build your design and understand every notion of the details. Colliding with the one isn’t a kismet, but a journey of trust.

To be aesthetic and instagrammable is cool, but an exceptional one stays at the back of people’s mind. Integrating every integral part of Interior design helps you to be one. From the brand identity, to the detail of the design, and building it right, you have to sail across the journey.

Yes, integrated Interior design it is.

IOOR Studio Unveils Foodhub, A Whole Other Level of Food Court

IOOR Studio Unveils Foodhub, A Whole Other Level of Food Court

Foodhub is the latest project that is designed by IOOR Studio. It’s located on the ground level of Cyber 2 Tower, Kuningan—the heart of Jakarta. It’s opened not just for the weekday 9 to 5 hustler, but also for the weekend social butterfly.

“When conversation meets convenience.”

A good food and a good company hold such a promise that is called a good time, and convenience perfects every second of it. It’s Foodhub in a nutshell.

Umm….hold on.

How in the world can a thing so-called food court be a place to unwind with friends? When one at the next table can hear even your whisper.

Well, that’s perhaps why IOOR Studio is here.

Foodhub

Foodhub gathers the best food vendors and confines them in one space. In short, it’s a one-stop food point. A full course meal—from appetizer, entrée, to dessert—that is mouth-watering, will satisfy you who come, and many who do a takeaway.

Dynamic yet iconic, its logo represents Foodhub via wheels under a plate that is seemingly in motion, ready to cater your hunger in a second. Dyed in green-blue and orange, oh dear young soul, this is not just another food court, but one that pops.

Now, it’s the job of IOOR Studio to interpret its identity into Interior design sophisticatedly.

Foodhub

Hundreds of office in Cyber 2 Tower shout out loud about network, hence a huge wifi signal is imprinted on the wall. Then, the lamp frames and ceiling treatment is radially crafted as an index of dynamism. The logo is also interpreted in the toilet sign, tenant stores and furniture that is capsule-like.

In a nutshell, Foodhub is a whole other level of food court, that is well-designed and not a mismatch. IOOR Studio integrates every detail, so that it holds the identity of itself. So let me do a little push communication, come and have some social intake with your friends at FoodHub. It’s definitely a worth visit.

Coffee Shop: From Seed to Cup

Coffee Shop: From Seed to Cup

From seed to cup, a drip of your favorite coffee is a result of perseverance. It transfigures from a coffee cherry into a bean that is able to hush away your drowsiness. But rumor has it, not everyone can handle a long wait, the a to z steps until one can sip that bittersweet potion.

The persistent are the ones who understand, of how dear scent of coffee is, and how some have to arduously untangle every process.

A coffee shop has its own story as well. It is built upon a philosophy that is in the mind of the author. From the planting to the brewing, the author doesn’t want to leave it as a tale, but a real hideout where the folks can have a good time with their coffee.

Uh huh, is it a nod or a no?

The author has the story and the philosophy, but how does he make it to the west? Of course, following a compass isn’t the answer, but he has to build the coffee shop from the prologue to the epilogue.

Thus, I letter you pieces you can capture to your note, of things that you may need to know in building a coffee shop, from seed to cup.

Coffee Machine

Yes, it is the face of your coffee shop. It tells how serious you are in this industry. Name it La Marzocco, Slayer, or Simonelli, the coffee enthusiast will know.

Interior Design

Design affects so many things, and an interior design consultant can be so much help for you. For instance, the flow activity of the coffee shop you want it to be. It can be said that the bar area is one important substance, because almost everything happens there.

A good coffee is made in that very space.

You have to be aware of the things that you need, either double serve espresso machine, the microwave to heat the pastry, the sink, et cetera.

What is the segmentation? The demography, the geography, the……

How do you do the pricing?

Vice versa, it ordains how the design will be. You need more chairs and tables to be occupied, if the pricing is low.

Identity

No one wants to wear the same outfit from the bottom to the top with others. Thus, your identity must be imprinted to the interior design, that people will remember and put you in their memoir.

“You don’t have to be unrivaled, you just need to be yourself.”

And the z but crucial is…

You need to hire an interior design consultant who can help you to integrate everything, and to interpret your identity to interior design, so that your coffee shop won’t be a mismatch.

With interior design consultant, it is no more a wishful thinking for you to build a state-of-art space that the target audience would love and happily come back to revisit your coffee place.

3 Best Cafes to do Interior-gazing in Bangkok

3 Best Cafes to do Interior-gazing in Bangkok

Some of us have our preferred holiday haven. Just like falling into the arms of our lover, we always want to come back and drop our anchor again to its harbor. Nevertheless, there are some of them who were just born to be an explorer. They try different menu, one at a time. They landed their feet in the cosmopolitan today, dive into the sea tomorrow, and hike the highest mountain the day after.

Do you see the line? Yes, everyone travels, on a mission to find a healing or just a different air.

Traveling is an unrivaled remedy, especially for us, the urban hustler.

I can see your weary soul nodding in amity to the quotation above. How mad your heart is to take the cure, such as rainforest, ocean waves, and sunset, or just a day off to unwind the weariness.

Here, I want to tell you an idea. Interior-gazing is another cure you can take, but you must be picky in picking the place you want to visit. Because, not every corner is interior-gazing worthy, and if it’s not, it would just be another turn-off.

Therefore, you can flee from the routine with your acquaintance for a while, to these cafes in Bangkok. I put my kinder bueno biscuit bars on the line, you will love it to the core. Our creative director, Ms. Orlatta, witnessed it herself and was in awe of how thoughtful the interior design was made.

Vivarium
3675 Rama 4, Sukhumvit

Into the woods, I name it. As you step your feet into this place, you will feel like you’re going into a vivarium, or the terrarium you know. It is well-decorated with uncommon yet pretty displays. Trees are standing tall and greeneries are hanging daintily, soothing your eyes as you have your lunch. Oh, did I tell you that this place serves a splendid Tom Yum Goong?

Shugaa
61 Sukhumvit Rd

Shugaa takes its name literally from sugar. It’s a room for dessert that is inspired much by sugar crystals. From the stairs to the wall, you can see how sugar is interpreted. The acrylic on the stairs and the crystal-like polar bear and lights. The pastel colour palate is without a doubt pleasing to our eyes.

Karmakamet Diner
30/1 Soi Methi Niwet, Sukhumvit

It calls itself a secret world, while selling scented aromatherapy on the left and restaurant on the other side. Located in the middle of a traditional garden, and I still have no idea why it is a secret world. However, Ms. Orlatta effortlessly untangled the enigma. Turns out, the restaurant is depicted as the aromatherapy factory. It is designed in Industrial style, decorated with aromatherapy bottles, and every corner is tailored to the detail. This place definitely has marked a little spot in her heart.

As you see, these exquisite places are located in Sukhumvit. So it’s easy for you to visit the three of them at once. Escape the routine and set your sail on a voyage. I wish you find a sanctuary in the midst of troubled waters. I hope the idea of interior-gazing can cheer you up and inspire you to do a lot more things in life.

How to Master The Art of Interior Design

How to Master The Art of Interior Design

Stealing the lyrics from the legend Rick Price, only heaven knows……what five years can do. No one grasps the idea of how the universe will unfold. Though one tries to be a psychic, saying that five is a number of peace and harmony, let us tune out the noise and skip the fairyland. In fact, IOOR Studio has turned 5, and be what it is now.

Life is indeed like a book, and each page holds a story. The next paragraph is unknown unless we write more. And in order to know what life has for us, we keep choosing between two, left or right, move ahead or stop. So let us tell you the tale of IOOR Studio, how it has waltzed through thin ice and colorful popping confetti.

ioor3

It began in the mid of 2011, the triad founder of IOOR Studio, Nydia, Jane, and Robert, nine-to-five as an interior designer in a different company right after they graduated. They had walked their own path for almost two years, but at some point, Nydia asked Jane and Robert to sail the Interior Design world together and inspire the world through itーwhich later becomes the vision of IOOR Studio.

Sailing to the same harbor, they built IOOR Studio at the end of 2012 and started designing one’s home. Nydia said, “Entrepreneurs who haven’t labored in a garage can’t call themselves as an entrepreneur”. Yes, they spent the first year of their journey in a 3×3 meter room. Revisit the memory, everyday they started and ended the day by carrying a coffee table to the room and returned it back afterward. At that coffee table, their masterpieces of work were created.

Approximately two years were spent in a search of their identity. They got a lot of offers to design commercial spaces, and worked on it together until IOOR Studio has its own design team and able to do more and bigger projects. Later, IOOR Studio also crossed path with press media and couples of their work were covered in prestigious magazines and broadcasted in many TV programs.

ioor2

Today, 10.000 hours has passed and IOOR Studio has mastered the art of Interior Design, especially in a matter of commercial space. But in the middle of it, they feel like something is missing. They used to design one’s home, but as they excelled in commercial design, they missed that home is the start of everything.

Inspiration should start at home, doesn’t home supposed to be the source of it? Like a lamp that is electrified to kindle up the room, one must be inspired for him to seize the day. Therefore, after five years of the voyage, they established HOOM Living. So that they can build a high-quality urban society, that is inspired everyday, through Interior Design.

ioor1

We never knew what another five years will do to us, but we decide to keep counting. 10,000 hours have made us a professional, this might be a point, but there’s something beyond lies behind. Inspiration, the word that will always be an “I do” in everything we do. From the beginning of the story, it’s never about us, nor we’ve ever dreamt to be the first. We just faithfully learn to be better, to inspire the world with what we do. We started from a scratch, and we make it. So it’s not a wishful thinking for you, to start dreaming a dream that you dreamt again.

Seconds in Interior Design: A Memoir or Despair

Seconds in Interior Design: A Memoir or Despair

An hour is just another term for 60 minutes, and if you multiply it by 24, it is called a day. Time is a blurred concept, and every minute that is passed instantly becomes a past. By the twaddle-babble above, we all get the juice that seconds are an essential substance. We are the author of either a memoir or despair as we prescribe our stories.

In interior design, time isn’t just a word with four different alphabets, but it’s a significant entity of what we, IOOR Studio, pour our hearts into. We dearly know that “good things take time”, we can’t hasten summer’s start or force the sun to set before its time. Either interpreting your brand identity into interior design concept or technically drawing the whole idea, thoughtfully doing both is what we always do.

“Then how long does a project ideally take place?”, couples of eyes start questioning. Some might guess “2 months!”, while others assume that 3 months is more than enough. But, the main thing is the process itself, isn’t it? Fast food is indeed a guilty pleasure, but it’s never a healthier option than a rosemary grilled salmon.

Talking about the process, every project has its own time plan, which the m2 factor is the stellar determinant here, it all depends on how spacious the space is. Who doesn’t want to have a flash finish in doing an assignment? We’d so love to do it that way, yet we prefer to go through every single step thoroughly, which is making the best out of the design itself for our clients.

To make it a crystal clear, now let us paint the framework on the plate of your mind so that you get the idea of how much time that you have to prepare beforehand.

Decipher

We want to even up your version of blue and ours, how yellow is your yellow and also the kind of your modern-minimalism. Schedule an initial meeting at least twice with you is the first thing, so that we can comprehend what is in your mind, because this is your own story and we want to draw it in the same page as yours. Once we decipher what is in your head,  future meetings will be less complicated.

Interpret

Thereafter, we do what is called brainstorm with our team. This is when we translate our client’s brand identity into a design concept, which includes furniture layout, 3D drawings, and the other small details. Marry your identity with the space is what we are passionate about.

Make It Happen

The last step can’t be done with only a “voila” spell, we do a site visit to see if everything is built as what our drawings say.  “Everything” means everything, ceiling plan, floor plan, electricity plan, elevation, furniture and decorations.

Trust and chemistry are the keywords to create a great memoir in this story. As your interior consultant, we do every step in a period of time that we set as what it actually needs, to maximize the outcome. As you believe that the best is the only thing we do, both of us can write an exceptional story in the same page. Maybe you can call us 3-4 months before the due date.
