3 Best Cafes to do Interior-gazing in Bangkok

3 Best Cafes to do Interior-gazing in Bangkok

Some of us have our preferred holiday haven. Just like falling into the arms of our lover, we always want to come back and drop our anchor again to its harbor. Nevertheless, there are some of them who were just born to be an explorer. They try different menu, one at a time. They landed their feet in the cosmopolitan today, dive into the sea tomorrow, and hike the highest mountain the day after.

Do you see the line? Yes, everyone travels, on a mission to find a healing or just a different air.

Traveling is an unrivaled remedy, especially for us, the urban hustler.

I can see your weary soul nodding in amity to the quotation above. How mad your heart is to take the cure, such as rainforest, ocean waves, and sunset, or just a day off to unwind the weariness.

Here, I want to tell you an idea. Interior-gazing is another cure you can take, but you must be picky in picking the place you want to visit. Because, not every corner is interior-gazing worthy, and if it’s not, it would just be another turn-off.

Therefore, you can flee from the routine with your acquaintance for a while, to these cafes in Bangkok. I put my kinder bueno biscuit bars on the line, you will love it to the core. Our creative director, Ms. Orlatta, witnessed it herself and was in awe of how thoughtful the interior design was made.

Vivarium
3675 Rama 4, Sukhumvit

Into the woods, I name it. As you step your feet into this place, you will feel like you’re going into a vivarium, or the terrarium you know. It is well-decorated with uncommon yet pretty displays. Trees are standing tall and greeneries are hanging daintily, soothing your eyes as you have your lunch. Oh, did I tell you that this place serves a splendid Tom Yum Goong?

Shugaa
61 Sukhumvit Rd

Shugaa takes its name literally from sugar. It’s a room for dessert that is inspired much by sugar crystals. From the stairs to the wall, you can see how sugar is interpreted. The acrylic on the stairs and the crystal-like polar bear and lights. The pastel colour palate is without a doubt pleasing to our eyes.

Karmakamet Diner
30/1 Soi Methi Niwet, Sukhumvit

It calls itself a secret world, while selling scented aromatherapy on the left and restaurant on the other side. Located in the middle of a traditional garden, and I still have no idea why it is a secret world. However, Ms. Orlatta effortlessly untangled the enigma. Turns out, the restaurant is depicted as the aromatherapy factory. It is designed in Industrial style, decorated with aromatherapy bottles, and every corner is tailored to the detail. This place definitely has marked a little spot in her heart.

As you see, these exquisite places are located in Sukhumvit. So it’s easy for you to visit the three of them at once. Escape the routine and set your sail on a voyage. I wish you find a sanctuary in the midst of troubled waters. I hope the idea of interior-gazing can cheer you up and inspire you to do a lot more things in life.

How to Master The Art of Interior Design

How to Master The Art of Interior Design

Stealing the lyrics from the legend Rick Price, only heaven knows……what five years can do. No one grasps the idea of how the universe will unfold. Though one tries to be a psychic, saying that five is a number of peace and harmony, let us tune out the noise and skip the fairyland. In fact, IOOR Studio has turned 5, and be what it is now.

Life is indeed like a book, and each page holds a story. The next paragraph is unknown unless we write more. And in order to know what life has for us, we keep choosing between two, left or right, move ahead or stop. So let us tell you the tale of IOOR Studio, how it has waltzed through thin ice and colorful popping confetti.

ioor3

It began in the mid of 2011, the triad founder of IOOR Studio, Nydia, Jane, and Robert, nine-to-five as an interior designer in a different company right after they graduated. They had walked their own path for almost two years, but at some point, Nydia asked Jane and Robert to sail the Interior Design world together and inspire the world through itーwhich later becomes the vision of IOOR Studio.

Sailing to the same harbor, they built IOOR Studio at the end of 2012 and started designing one’s home. Nydia said, “Entrepreneurs who haven’t labored in a garage can’t call themselves as an entrepreneur”. Yes, they spent the first year of their journey in a 3×3 meter room. Revisit the memory, everyday they started and ended the day by carrying a coffee table to the room and returned it back afterward. At that coffee table, their masterpieces of work were created.

Approximately two years were spent in a search of their identity. They got a lot of offers to design commercial spaces, and worked on it together until IOOR Studio has its own design team and able to do more and bigger projects. Later, IOOR Studio also crossed path with press media and couples of their work were covered in prestigious magazines and broadcasted in many TV programs.

Today, 10.000 hours has passed and IOOR Studio has mastered the art of Interior Design, especially in a matter of commercial space. But in the middle of it, they feel like something is missing. They used to design one’s home, but as they excelled in commercial design, they missed that home is the start of everything.

Inspiration should start at home, doesn’t home supposed to be the source of it? Like a lamp that is electrified to kindle up the room, one must be inspired for him to seize the day. Therefore, after five years of the voyage, they established HOOM Living. So that they can build a high-quality urban society, that is inspired everyday, through Interior Design.

We never knew what another five years will do to us, but we decide to keep counting. 10,000 hours have made us a professional, this might be a point, but there’s something beyond lies behind. Inspiration, the word that will always be an “I do” in everything we do. From the beginning of the story, it’s never about us, nor we’ve ever dreamt to be the first. We just faithfully learn to be better, to inspire the world with what we do. We started from a scratch, and we make it. So it’s not a wishful thinking for you, to start dreaming a dream that you dreamt again.

Seconds in Interior Design: A Memoir or Despair

Seconds in Interior Design: A Memoir or Despair

An hour is just another term for 60 minutes, and if you multiply it by 24, it is called a day. Time is a blurred concept, and every minute that is passed instantly becomes a past. By the twaddle-babble above, we all get the juice that seconds are an essential substance. We are the author of either a memoir or despair as we prescribe our stories.

In interior design, time isn’t just a word with four different alphabets, but it’s a significant entity of what we, IOOR Studio, pour our hearts into. We dearly know that “good things take time”, we can’t hasten summer’s start or force the sun to set before its time. Either interpreting your brand identity into interior design concept or technically drawing the whole idea, thoughtfully doing both is what we always do.

“Then how long does a project ideally take place?”, couples of eyes start questioning. Some might guess “2 months!”, while others assume that 3 months is more than enough. But, the main thing is the process itself, isn’t it? Fast food is indeed a guilty pleasure, but it’s never a healthier option than a rosemary grilled salmon.

Talking about the process, every project has its own time plan, which the m2 factor is the stellar determinant here, it all depends on how spacious the space is. Who doesn’t want to have a flash finish in doing an assignment? We’d so love to do it that way, yet we prefer to go through every single step thoroughly, which is making the best out of the design itself for our clients.

To make it a crystal clear, now let us paint the framework on the plate of your mind so that you get the idea of how much time that you have to prepare beforehand.

Decipher

We want to even up your version of blue and ours, how yellow is your yellow and also the kind of your modern-minimalism. Schedule an initial meeting at least twice with you is the first thing, so that we can comprehend what is in your mind, because this is your own story and we want to draw it in the same page as yours. Once we decipher what is in your head,  future meetings will be less complicated.

Interpret

Thereafter, we do what is called brainstorm with our team. This is when we translate our client’s brand identity into a design concept, which includes furniture layout, 3D drawings, and the other small details. Marry your identity with the space is what we are passionate about.

Make It Happen

The last step can’t be done with only a “voila” spell, we do a site visit to see if everything is built as what our drawings say.  “Everything” means everything, ceiling plan, floor plan, electricity plan, elevation, furniture and decorations.

Trust and chemistry are the keywords to create a great memoir in this story. As your interior consultant, we do every step in a period of time that we set as what it actually needs, to maximize the outcome. As you believe that the best is the only thing we do, both of us can write an exceptional story in the same page. Maybe you can call us 3-4 months before the due date.

Panbakers 2: A Passion that is Everlasting

The first chapter of a book is a determinant whether the reader will turn the page or not. A rhetoric narrative that creates a stop motion in their mind, through words in each passage that is written by the author himself. But, a yes or no option to continue reading isn’t at the hands of the writer, but they who have read every paragraph of the story.

As well as the premiere episode of Panbakers in Pettarani Street, Makassar, that is marked as so called best Western restaurant in the city. It has not only good food, but an identity that is not a mismatch. Spending hours there might be an unforgettable tale as it has a warm atmosphere for your ritual family dinner, or just a casual lunch with your friends.

The second chapter begins as it has gained so much popularity. It is unveiled at the heart of Makassar, Latimojong Street, with an ever better performance. They enhance both the entrée and the place. And as edible material is not our forte, we’ll tell you the synopsis of its design concept that is sophisticatedly created by IOOR Studio.

Rustic is the genre of this piece, and it also befriends luxury and modern vintage style. The ambiance that we want to create at first was warm, charismatic, and unique. Oh how does luxury match the warm feelings? Well, visiting this place might be the only answer to the enigma.

Detail is a six-alphabet-with-three-vocal-letters word, which is dear for us. Every corner of the space is thoughtfully sketched, and brushed with royal blue, gold, and grey hues. From decoration, furniture, to plans such as; ceiling, flooring, wall and electricity, none is left out.

As it is in the pictures above; medieval pattern on the wall and furniture which are plated by brass, exposed concrete cement flooring that accentuates the Rustic feels, unending assortment of decorations, and a variety of tables which are well-manufactured by The Toop Table, the sister company of IOOR Studio. They unravel the word d e t a i l thoroughly in Panbakers.

d

Symbolic accent of Edelweiss flower is also applied to show the purity, infinity, and adventure of Panbakers itself. It shows how Panbakers strives the best service for customers. You can find it on the flooring plan that is coated by brass and the stairway to the second story of this place.

Panbakers is made by passion, and whatever that is caused by it, is everlasting. Because when you do something from the deepest of your soul, it’s only a matter of time for people to recognize and taste the sweetness out of it. Savor every moment you spend in Panbakers with your dear friends, eat a hearty meal, and go home with a merry and contented heart.

Interpret Your Identity into Interior Design

Have you ever spotted something that is out of order? Something like seeing a red stripes turtleneck shirt tops purple polka dot culottes. It’s a little exaggerating, isn’t it? How about painting your face a heavy party make up to attend a birthday party of your friend’s toddler? Uh huh, it is called a mismatch.

When it comes to the interior design of a commercial space, the concept has to be based upon the brand image. It is like an offbeat music if an oriental decoration is hanged on an Indonesian restaurant’s wall. We, IOOR Studio, see that clearly as a problem, a puzzle to be solved.

Kyouchii

A fine kismet on our side, our very own Creative Director, Nydia Orlatta, is now taking her master degree, learning about brand image. It’s not a wishful thinking for us to help you interpret your brand identity into an exceptional interior design.

First thing first

Logo, yes these very four alphabets are the representatives of your identity. You need one before starting the next complicated steps. You do your hair and brush your cheeks depends on the outfit you wear, don’t you? Logo will help you to prescribe the atmosphere, shapes of the furniture, and color scheme of your space.

Next complicated steps

You’ve already got the color pallete from the logo, now you gotta learn about psychological color. It sounds cliché, but it’s a real thing. Black does really mean mysterious, navy is more like elegant, and green speaks about natural ambience. Once the color scheme is ordained, you can choose what kind of material that is able to bring the best out of the colors.

Last sure thing

You might need to splurge in this last step, hire the best interior design consultant that understands how to translate your brand image into the whole interior design concept, so that your space doesn’t end up as a mismatch. As for IOOR Studio, it’s a sure thing that we’re not only able to do it, but are also passionate in this field.

We had done our part as the supporting role to tell you how, now it’s you, the leading role, to act out loud the dialogue of your brand journey. Let the world grasp the story of every color, shape and material that telltales your brand identity. A misfit is the worst thing that can ever happen to a commercial space.

Ardent Archipelago: A Bitter Excitement While Waiting For Boarding Time

Who doesn’t fall head over heels for Indonesian coffee? Name it, magic brownish beans from Aceh Gayo, Flores Bajawa, Toraja Sapan. Well, isn’t it our forte to birth an exceptional coffee? Which is not only recognized by the next-door countries, but the whole world?

Understanding the very high airport mobility, and the morning flights that cause people to land their baggage, or just themselves two hours early before the boarding time, Ardent answers the needs by opening Ardent Archipelago – Coffee & Eatery. They are in a full force to fulfill your coffeegasm anytime.
A sip of coffee from Ardent is out of ordinary, as they’ve been in this bean-roasting business for years. And staying in the comfort zone isn’t their passion, so that they invented an uber refreshing decaf called Nitro Coffee. It’s an excitement in every gulp, as if you’re having a soft drink, when it’s just a very pleasant ice long black.
ardent3
The interior design is another story to tell, and will be one of the reason why you visit this coffee space while waiting for your flight number to be called. Inspired by the coffee itself, brownish and natural, wood is the main thing we bring into play. Meanwhile the floor treatment in Ardent is unlikely to be found in any other place, it’s their brand identity which altered from the brand element.

Now, as you embark to the other side of this universe through Terminal 3 Ultimate Soekarno Hatta, you can enjoy a bitter surprise in a cup of caffeine from Ardent. Pack up your things and safe flight everyone!

Oh-So-Scrumptious Nasi Goreng, Presented by Riso Fritto

“Instaworthy!” once Riso Fritto said about our works for their space. Yes, we made it!

Riso Fritto is a brand new eatery authored by a triad, Henderson, Daniel and Kevin. Henderson, the one who rules the kitchen, was graduated as a chef back in United States. Last year, he glided back to Jakarta for his heart towards Indonesia which later became the first issue behind the inception of Riso Fritto, a Nasi Goreng hideout in the heart of West Jakarta.

“What’s so special about Fried Rice?” the skeptics are questioning in harmony. Well, a meal without rice isn’t really a meal for an Indonesian, right? And talking about nutrition, we all need carbohydrate. Has been equipped in cooking for years, Henderson is now mastering the most scrumptious Nasi Goreng in the city, exceptionally the oh-so-delish Carbonarice®, signature dish of Riso Fritto.

As it’s portraying rice, clean and neat are the keywords for this eatery. Therefore it is mostly colored by white and plays geometric shape.  Wood and plants complete the modern interior style. For us, Riso Fritto is special and unique, and we believe that someday Henderson’s passion in cooking will bring Riso Fritto somewhere.

Witness how they unfolded their journey today, taste the one and only Carbonarice®, and photograph yourself with your loved ones in the most instagramable spot of Riso Fritto.

It’s rice to meet you!
